PADI’s Professional-Level Courses for Scuba Diving Leaders and Scuba Instructors
Are you ready to turn your passion into your career? To do something most other people have only dreamt of? To dive in locations the majority of people only see on TV and be paid for it?
Are you ready to transform your life?
You are already a scuba diver (or not, see our zero to hero packages), love being underwater, attained the various qualifications and treated yourself to several fun-filled scuba diving vacations —but something’s missing. Then one day you realise that you not only want to participate in scuba diving, but you want a career in the sport you have come to love.
Well, you have come to the right place! At Canary Island Divers in Lanzarote we have been training Dive professionals (Divemasters and Instructors) for more than twelve years. It’s a fact that many of the instructors working on Lanzarote were trained by us. We are the only dive centre on Lanzarote with a resident Course Director, the level you need to be able to teach PADI Instructors (Instructor Development Course – IDC), that is why PADI has awarded us the PADI 5 star Career Development Center award that we proudly carry in our logo above every page on this website
Personal Professional Progress
Our experience not only guarantees your results, but also enables us to study your particular circumstances and design a plan for training and professional development based on your personal experience and your personal goals.
So put your future diving career in good hands . Your professional career begins on Lanzarote with Canary Island Divers.
We often wonder if it is a coincidence that CID, for Canary Island Divers, has the same letters as IDC, for Instructor Development Course
So why become a Diving Professional?
Open doors you have only imagined!
As a PADI Diving Professional you do things others only dream of. Whether you work in a local dive centre, at a resort in an exotic destination or on a liveaboard, the adventures of a lifetime are yours for the taking!
Imagine a job where you actually look forward to heading off to work in the morning. Lead a life others fantasise about. Sailing into incredible sunsets could be the rule, not the exception. The commute to work could be as easy as a ten-minute boat ride or a walk on the beach. Work now becomes an adventure in itself. While experiencing new cultures and lifestyles, you will be surrounded by people who are always smiling.
It’s not all fun and games in paradise, you will have to work hard and learn to carry a lot of responsibility for other people’s safety and well-being, but the rewards are well worth the effort.
If you set your sights close to home you may aspire to work at a local dive centre. There you can teach people to dive and go on to guide them on trips to exotic dive destinations. There is a sense of pride sharing something you are passionate about. You help others enrich their own lives by experiencing the adventure of diving.
Your professional career path
See the following graph to understand where the recreational courses end and where the GoPro courses start:
In terms of professional development and career the first rung of the ladder is the Divemaster rating and then Open Water Scuba Instructor. When you develop more experience you can move up to Master Scuba Diver Trainer and IDC Staff Instructor. And a few years later you can obtain the Master Instructor ranking and at the same time learn to prepare for carrying management responsibility for a dive centre. If you want to become the “teacher’s teacher” you can finally become a PADI Course Director.
And this is only what you could call a vertical path. Because next to moving “up”, you can also develop broader skills by learning how to teach Specialty Diver courses and even learn how to teach TecDiver courses. Diving is not just about going deep; you can also move up and wide!
